Test-trenching was carried out at a site designated for residential development at Lacklom, Iniskeen. It is proposed to demolish a dwelling house and associated sheds and to construct 48 dwellings on a site measuring 2.468ha. An assessment was carried out on 27 May 2008, as the site is in close proximity to St Mary’s Catholic Church and attendant grounds (listed 41402905 under the Record of Protected Structures in the Monaghan County Council area).
Five test-trenches were mechanically excavated to the natural subsoil. No archaeological features were identified during the excavation of these trenches.
