Monitoring was carried out in 2007 during the laying of a broadband telecom network in Kells, Co. Meath. The broadband works consisted of mechanically excavating trenches measuring c. 1m deep and less than 1m wide, generally situated along the sides of roads. All works that took place around the Hill of Lloyd (ME016–054) and along roads within historic centre of Kells town (ME017–044) (being Headfort Place, Kenlis Place, Farrell, Suffolk, Cannon and John Streets) were subject to monitoring. Despite the high archaeological potential, no remains of archaeological significance were identified, probably due to disturbance from previous phases of service laying and maintenance along the roads.
