A single private residential development on a ridge at Tully Commons, Castlebar, required ten test-trenches, due to the presence of a possible cairn noted on a black-and-white photo in the OPW Photographic Library. The field survey for County Mayo has no record of a monument here. From the testing the lower courses of stone-filled field drains of modern vintage were uncovered, but no archaeological feature.
