Testing was carried out in advance of development for a single dwelling house and shed at Castlehill, Crossmolina, with associated access route, septic tank and percolation area. The overall area of development is c. 0.407ha. There are two archaeological sites in the immediate vicinity: MA038–118, an enclosure located c. 60m south, and MA038–117, a ringfort or rath located c. 40m west of the site. Five trenches were excavated across the footprint of the development. No archaeological material was encountered during the course of test-trench excavation.
