2008:879 - BALLYMACREDMOND, Mayo

Testing was carried out in advance of a proposed development for a single residential dwelling, domestic garage, septic tank, percolation areas and a setback area at Ballymacredmond, Ballina. The site area measured 35m north–south by 100m. The proposed development was at the south-western edge of the buffer zone for MA039–098, a court tomb/enclosure/children’s burial-ground. Eight test-trenches were excavated across the footprint of the development using a machine with a grading bucket. Trenches 1–5 and 7–8 measured 10m in length and 2.5m in width, Trench 6 measured 3m in length and 2m in width. No archaeological finds or features were uncovered during testing on this site.
