Testing took place at Ballinvilla Demesne, Co. Mayo, on 11 January 2008. The family plot of the Creans of Ballinvilla House, MA102–034, is to the north-east of the proposed house and there was a possible fulacht reported 150m to the south-west in the same field. Six test-trenches were excavated by machine but nothing of archaeological significance was found.
