Monitoring of an area of topsoil-stripping for a haul road and the excavation of a pipeline trench was carried out in the townland of Prucklish. Topsoil was stripped from an area of 120m by 6m adjacent to the existing reservoir. The pipeline ran from there along the road margin and a section in the vicinity of the site of a standing stone (LF008–036) in Creenagh was monitored. The pipe was inserted into a trench 1m wide and between 2.5m and 3m deep and much of the area had previously been disturbed. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered. Further works on this project will continue in neighbouring townlands in 2009.
