The site of the proposed development is located on the eastern edge of the village of Ballinalee, Co. Longford. The development site comprises a subrectangular plot of land under grass situated north-west of Ballinalee School. The proposed development site is situated partially within the zone of archaeological potential for LF009–023 (town of Ballinalee). Four trenches were excavated across the site of the proposed development. All four measured 1.5m wide and 40m long. All were excavated to a depth of between 0.35m and 0.45m. No evidence of archaeological features, finds or materials was revealed in any of the trenches excavated
