A series of three test-trenches, totalling 49.5m in length, were excavated on the site of a proposed house within the limits of the historic town of Ardagh. The site, though now fronting on to the modern alignment of the Newcastlewest Road, was originally the rear portion of a property on Main Street; no features of archaeological interest were found during the testing programme.
