Excavation took place at this site on 5 February 2008. The site was initially identified during test excavations the proposed N9/N10 Knoctopher to Powerstown road realignment as an isolated pit. Due to its proximity to the wayleave of a proposed gas line, the feature was resolved at testing stage. However, an area was opened around the pit to ensure no further features had been missed. The site was located under pasture on a gentle slope to the south, adjacent to a stream. A further small pit was identified, which contained a possible stake-hole at its base. This pit measured 0.45m by 0.5m and had a depth of 0.09m. The pit that was resolved during testing was also identified. This measured 0.6m by 0.42m and had a depth of 0.19m. Pottery was found in the fill of this pit during testing but no further pottery was found during excavation. A relatively recent north–south-aligned field drain was also identified crossing the site.
