The site lies within the historic town of Kilkenny. The area tested lies to the rear of the Capuchin friary, to the south of Pennyfeather Lane. Five trenches were excavated across the site. Post-medieval overburden comprising rubble and/or garden soil was removed up to a depth of c. 2m. No features or finds of archaeological interest were exposed. Given the absence of archaeological finds on this site, while nearby sites have produced a significant amount of medieval and post-medieval finds, it can be surmised that this area was used as a garden.
