This site was located within the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford Scheme, Waterford to Powerstown Phase 4 – Knocktopher to Powerstown. During testing an oval-shaped deposit of charcoal-rich material with heat-shattered stones was identified as belonging to a burnt mound. An area of 20m by 20m was opened to locate the deposit. Due to flooding, no further work was possible on the site. It was agreed between the project archaeologist and the DOEHLG that no further mitigation was required due to the flooding.
Based on the results of the testing there was no evidence of a trough or other significant archaeological features. No finds of archaeological significance were recovered from the topsoil.
