An assessment of the site was requested by Kildare County Council following an application for planning permission to construct a bungalow and effluent treatment system. There are several monuments on the Hill of Allen – i.e. to the west of the development site – but the closest is KD018–024, a potential site revealed by aerial photograph. This potential monument is located in the field immediately south of the proposed development site. Four trenches tested the development site. Nothing of archaeological significance was exposed. The only artefact was a sherd of glazed red earthenware of 18th/19th-century date.
