Testing was undertaken at this site in early April in compliance with a request for further information issued with respect to a proposed mixed-use development. The development site largely comprised overgrown gardens with a house, garage, driveway and septic tank positioned in the south-eastern area. There are no known monuments situated within 200m of the site and nothing of archaeological potential was noted during a preliminary surface reconnaissance survey. A total of 21 trenches of varying lengths and orientations were excavated within the boundaries of the site. Although nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered, it is a condition of the grant of planning that all topsoil-stripping associated with the development be monitored.
