Pre-development testing was undertaken, following a request for further information, at a proposed development of eighteen houses at Moanmore, Castleisland. There were no recorded monuments located on or near the proposed development site and no features of potential archaeological importance were visible aboveground before works commenced.
Nine test-trenches, 10m apart, were excavated across the site. They measured from 26–60m long, 1.5m wide and were on average 0.25–0.3m deep. Modern inclusions of pottery and glass were found in the topsoil and no archaeological features were recorded.
