Test excavations were carried out on the site of a proposed dwelling at Slievefin, Co. Galway. Immediately east of the proposed dwelling there are the remains of a ringfort and children’s burial-ground (GA070–099a and b). Prior to testing, no features of archaeological significance were visible in the area of the proposed development. Four trenches were mechanically excavated and the stratigraphy revealed consisted of sod and topsoil overlying subsoil which overlay natural gravel layers. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were uncovered in the course of the testing.
