Phase 2 excavations along the 27.2km of the N18 Oranmore to Gort (Glenbrack to Rathmorrissey) National Road Scheme were commissioned by Galway County Council and the National Roads Authority.
An area c. 20m by 10m was topsoil-stripped. Three pits were recorded clustered along the southern limits of the area of excavation. The pits were filled with blackened silt, angular stones and some charcoal. The largest pit measured 2.1m long by 1.58m wide by 0.21m deep. Nine stake-holes cut the base of the pit. Two further smaller pits were also excavated.
