Testing was carried out in April 2008 as part of a pre-development assessment of a proposed large-scale development at Oranhill, Oranmore. The site is located in close proximity to GA095–108, a sinuously curving field boundary, which forms the southern perimeter of the site. This feature is not expected to be affected by the present phase of development. Three other monuments are close to the proposed development site. These are GA095–105, a house of indeterminate date, c. 60m to the south; GA095–084, Moneyduff Castle, c. 120m west; and GA095–139, the designed landscape and gardens (c. 20m east) associated with Rocklands House (GA095–140). Testing across most of the site did not reveal any finds, features or deposits of archaeological significance. One area of the site was inaccessible for testing and it has been recommended that this area be subject to monitoring during the construction phase.
