Pre-development testing took place at Curraghaun on 19 March 2008 as a result of a request for further information in relation to a planning application for a house. A ringfort in the field adjacent to the proposed development is one of three ringforts evenly spaced along the northern bank of the Sinking River. Five test-trenches were mechanically excavated on the footprint of the house and garage, but nothing of archaeological interest was found.
