Monitoring was conducted in the town of Craughwell, Co. Galway, and its environs between January and May 2008. The proposed development (gas pipeline) was not within the zone of archaeological potential of any monument. A single trench was dug to lay the pipe; it was between 0.45–0.65m in width, 1–1.2m in depth and was dug exclusively on public roads. No archaeological features were uncovered during these works.
