Phase 2 excavations along the 27.2km of the N18 Oranmore to Gort (Glenbrack to Rathmorrissey) National Road Scheme were commissioned by Galway County Council and the National Roads Authority.

This heavily disturbed burnt-mound spread had been subjected to intensive land reclamation over the years. The field had been cleared of all glacial erratic material by machine. An area measuring c. 1250m2 was topsoil-stripped which revealed three burnt-mound spreads. All three spreads displayed signs of disturbance as modern inclusions were present under the spreads.

Despite the disturbance, a barbed and tanged arrowhead was recovered from the site.
