Pre-development testing was undertaken at the development of a single dwelling house and associated services at Abbey, Abbeyknockmoy, Co. Galway, which is adjacent to a medieval monastic complex, GA058–004. Three trenches were mechanically excavated in the course of the testing at the site. The stratigraphy revealed consisted of sod and topsoil overlying the natural gravel with occasional boulders throughout. No archaeological layers or features were uncovered in the course of the testing.
