This site was identified during an earlier assessment along the route of a proposed link road, part of the Parkway, Balbriggan, infrastructure undertaken by Fingal County Council. Five features were identified during the excavation of this site. The site was located in open countryside in the townland of Clogheder to the west of Balbriggan in Co. Dublin on land which previously had been in agricultural use.
Testing had previously been undertaken by means of machine-excavated trenches excavated along the centreline of the proposed roadway with right-angled offsets across the road-take every 20m under licence number 08E0106. One site of archaeological significance was noted. Due to the site being small and contained, licence 08E0106 was extended to cover full resolution. The main features making up the site consisted of a linear ditch of possible Bronze Age date and a small pit both of which had been identified during testing.
