The development will involve the removal of the existing building and replacing it with a house with adjoined garage and associated landscaping and services. The proposed development is located within an archaeologically sensitive landscape with 21 recorded sites within a 1.5km radius. There are no recorded sites within the boundaries of the proposed development, although the site of a standing stone (DOW041–018) is recorded c. 75m due south. The evaluation took the form of four test-trenches excavated to undisturbed subsoil; each trench was 1m wide and extended for c. 40m west to east across the footprint of the proposed development. No in situ archaeological deposits were uncovered.
