The proposed development at Glencrow, Moville, would involve the construction of 41 houses and 40 apartments. Development works would include associated siteworks such as the construction of roadways and footpaths, a sewage treatment plant, provision of services, landscaping of open spaces and all ancillary siteworks.
The excavation of sixteen test-trenches located throughout the proposed development area failed to reveal any archaeological features or artefacts. On all occasions topsoil directly sealed geologically deposited strata which varied across the site. Occasional sherds of modern china were recovered from the surface of the field and the topsoil.
In total 1,795.5m2 of test-trenches were excavated within the c. 34,000m2 site, giving an approximate 5.3% test-trenching sample of the proposed development area.
