Testing of a proposed house site at Roughgrove West, Co. Cork, was undertaken as part of an impact assessment. The site is located within the constraint zones for two fulachta fiadh and a souterrain (CO096–070/01–03), all of which are located within the site. Five test-trenches were excavated across the site. A thin spread of burnt-mound material was uncovered in Trench 4 at the west side of the site in the proposed percolation area. The trench was located adjacent to a previously excavated percolation test-pit in which burnt-mound material was also visible in section. No further excavation was carried out and the percolation area was moved to the east side of the site where no archaeological remains were uncovered.
