Seven test-trenches were excavated in a greenfield site located in the townland of Knockaneowen on the south side of the town of Coachford. There are no known monuments located within the proposed development site but the site is located to the south of the zone of archaeological potential for a Church of Ireland church known as Christ Church, and a graveyard and a second Church of Ireland church. Topsoil depths averaged 0.2m. The subsoils were an orange-brown colour. A metal detector was used on the spoil from the test-trenches and nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
