Carriganass Castle Ltd. received a grant from Cork County Council for conservation of the tower at roof level. The scope of the conservation programme involved the removal of vegetation and conservation of the tower at roof level. The licence was extended to monitor conservation works at Carriganass on an intermittent basis until the end of 2008. Scaffolding was erected on the west wall of the tower-house to allow access to roof level. The vegetation was removed from the upper surface of the walls and the wall walk. Any loose stone was pointed with lime mortar. The recipe for the lime mortar was the same as that used in earlier phases of work, 1 part lime (Roundtower NHL 3.5) to 2.5 parts sand (well-washed, sharp, well-graded).
