Testing was carried out in January 2008 as part of a request for further information on a site located at the confluence of the Dalua and Allow rivers between the bridges (CO023–076, CO023–298) which cross these rivers in the townland of Curragh in the north Cork town of Kanturk. Two trenches were excavated in the small courtyard to the rear of a building proposed for demolition. Topsoil, up to 0.25m in depth, overlay a firm pale orange stony boulder clay. Some displaced cobblestones were noted beneath the topsoil in the southern part of the courtyard. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted.
