Test-trenching was carried out as part of an assessment of a large tillage field due to be impacted on by a proposed extension to Kinsale golf-course. The south-west corner of the field extends into the zone of archaeological potential surrounding a ringfort (CO111–042) and the proposed development has been designed to incorporate a buffer zone extending from the outer edge of this monument. The upcast plough soil from the test-trenches was investigated with a metal detector (08R145). These site investigations indicated that the field had been severely impacted by intensive ploughing and no features or finds of archaeological significance were identified.
