Works were carried out along the route of the East Cork Gas Pipeline on behalf of Bord Gáis Éireann. Assessment took place of CO088–090/091 in the townland of Castlemary 1, Co. Cork, under licence 08E0089 and revealed the presence of two burnt-mound spreads. The spreads were subsequently excavated in March 2008 under licence 08E0177. Radiocarbon analysis of the burnt-mound spreads revealed that they dated to the Middle Bronze Age.
