Monitoring of the Bantry Water Supply Scheme was carried out in a number of townlands to the north-east of the town. The scheme involved the construction of 4.5km of water mains, 400m of which are in fields and the remainder in a road constructed in the second half of the 19th century. The road impacted by the scheme had been cut into the southern slopes of the Mealagh valley and the excavation of the water mains trench exposed the glacial till layer directly under the road fill material. The construction of a water treatment plant and a reservoir in a greenfield site in Cahernacrin townland was also monitored and nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
