Monitoring was carried out of topsoil-stripping for the 3.5km of road corridor. One feature of potential archaeological interest was revealed. A small spread of burnt material with some heat-shattered stone within it was revealed in Ballygrogan townland on the southern bank of a small stream. The spread measured 1–2m in diameter and was in an area formally under softwood forestry. Upon further investigation the spread was clearly not in its original location, although it may indicate the presence of a fulacht fiadh in the vicinity which was disturbed when the forestry was planted.
