Testing was undertaken as part of an assessment in response to planning conditions from the local authority for the construction of 89 dwellings. Twenty-six test-trenches were excavated by machine, measuring 18.5–130m in length by 1.2m wide, with an average depth of 0.4m. No archaeological features were identified within the test-trenches. However, 30m to the north-east of the subject site was a limekiln that was not depicted on either the first- or second-edition OS maps. According to local information the limekiln had been restored under a FÁS scheme in the early 1990s.
