The proposed development at Quill Road, Kilmurry North, Kilmacanoge, would involve the construction of a single-storey detached bungalow with entrance driveway, effluent disposal system and associated site works on a site measuring c. 85m north–south by 35m.
The excavation of eight test-trenches, spread throughout the proposed development area, along with monitoring, failed to reveal any archaeological remains or artefacts. There was no evidence of any remains associated with the church and graveyard (WI08–013) located immediately west of the proposed development area, extending into the area of land-take.
A number of medium-sized tree boles were recorded in the north-western corner of the site and in all cases these were filled with topsoil, tree root inclusions and occasional redeposited natural. Topsoil was a maximum of 0.75m deep (at the southern end of the site) and natural consisted of angular to sub-rounded stone in a loose mid-brown silty clay matrix.
