A non-disturbance underwater survey of a 190m by 25m area of riverbed took place, prior to the proposed construction of a floating marina on the River Barrow, adjacent to the site of a 19th-century brewery complex at Craywell Road, New Ross, Co. Wexford.
Systematic visual inspection of the subtidal riverbed and intertidal foreshore area surrounding the proposed riverbed impact did not reveal any material or features of archaeological significance. However, material of historic interest was encountered and included numerous glass bottles (1900 onwards in date), a large hardwood timber (0.2m width by 0.4m depth by 8m length) and rough-cut masonry from the adjacent brewery/quayside structures.
