The development site is greenfield with no visible archaeological remains. It lies within the confines of WA032–012, a town, to the south-west of the medieval church and the post-medieval village of Stradbally, on a gentle south-facing slope and beside a boreen (probable medieval road). The location of the medieval town is not known. The site of an earthwork or enclosure (WA032–011) recorded on the first-edition 6-inch OS map lies to the south-west of the boreen, close to the site. Testing was carried out on 11 August 2007 as part of an archaeological assessment. Four test-trenches were excavated, but no features of archaeological significance were uncovered and no artefacts were found.
