This site was excavated as part of the pre-construction archaeological mitigation of the N25 Waterford bypass, alternative route. Two parallel slot-trenches, 1m apart, that would originally have held upright posts, and three small post-holes (one 1m west of the slot-trenches, the others 5m to the south) were identified. Flint artefacts dating to the Neolithic period and a possible sherd of prehistoric pottery were recovered from one of the slot-trenches.
Three large pits, one possible pit and one hearth were exposed c. 20m to the south. These features were exposed during works associated with the nearby Bord Gáis pipeline diversion and were excavated by Ian Russell in September 2006 (No. 1801 above, 06E0916).
