This site was excavated as part of the pre-construction archaeological mitigation of the N25 Waterford bypass, alternative route. A circular arrangement of seven post-holes, probably representing a structure c. 5m in diameter, was discovered. The post-holes contained high quantities of charcoal and had probably been burnt in situ. There was no central post and no surviving hearth or associated finds. There was no obvious entrance, although there was a notable gap in excess of 2m on the northern side of the structure, which could have performed this function. Post-excavation analysis is ongoing and radiocarbon dates were not available at the time of submission.
