Waterford County Council requested an archaeological impact assessment as part of further information for a site at Ballymacaw, Dunmore East. A single archaeological monument, a standing stone (WA027–064), stands in proximity to the site of the proposed development. The standing stone is located c. 90m from the nearest point of the proposed development (i.e. the wastewater treatment plant). There will be no physical or visual impact on the monument as the standing stone stands on a ridge of high ground clearly distinct from the area of the proposed development.
Eleven test-trenches were excavated. No finds or features of archaeological significance were revealed. Of the seventeen items recorded, fourteen were blue-and-white or cream chinaware, one was part of an iron chain and two were sherds of glass bottles.
