Trial-trenching was carried out in June 2006 on the line of the upgraded A4 between 27169 36055 and 27188 36052. Further investigation in August/September 2006 revealed a small group of ditches and gullies, associated with occasional post-holes and pits, near the top of a small drumlin, centred on 27173 36054. The only finds were occasional flint/chert flakes.
