It is proposed to construct a residential development on lands at Sandholes Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone. Ten test-trenches were excavated across the site to evaluate its archaeological potential. This revealed that the site has been extensively disturbed in the recent past and has been used to dump large quantities of building rubble. No archaeological activity was uncovered during the testing and, given the level of disturbance, it is highly unlikely that anything archaeological survives within the proposed development’s boundary.
