Five trenches were opened on the imprint of proposed farm buildings at Tullamain townland. The site is within the confines of a medieval settlement which contains Tullamain Castle, a church and graveyard and a motte and bailey. However, none of these remains were too near the site works, the nearest being 110m. Three features – field drains – were uncovered in the course of testing, of which none proved to be of archaeological provenance.
