Eight test-trenches were opened on the imprint of a small housing scheme in the village of Loughmore, which is classified as a medieval borough, retaining a ringwork, medieval church and graveyard, a tower-house and fortified house and a possible weir. The development site is within the medieval borough. Of the eight trenches opened, two were positioned on a hardcore area which had previously been stripped, whilst the remainder were located in greenfield areas. Two drains, a lens of burnt modern dumping and extensive modern dumping were uncovered. Otherwise the site was featureless, with no archaeological remains or features uncovered in any of the test-trenches.
