A test assessment was carried out in November 2007 at Lisnagrough townland, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, at the site of a proposed private dwelling. A small stream known as the Farney Bridge River runs to the west of the site. The investigation was focused on establishing the presence or absence of any subsurface remains associated with a recorded monument close to the development site. The ringfort ‘Lisnagrough’ (TN046–008) lies immediately to the north of the proposed site. Four test-trenches were excavated. Assessment found no archaeological material or features associated with the nearby ringfort. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted.
