Archaeological investigation in advance of the N7 Nenagh to Limerick high-quality dual carriageway road project at Carrigatogher (Harding) took place between 1 and 22 August 2006 and from the 7 to 15 of March 2007. Excavations revealed a number of different features spread over three areas. Excavation of Area I uncovered three charcoal-production pits, a hearth, numerous small pits and modern cultivation features. Excavation of Area J uncovered a single shallow pit, 7.1m long, 5.5m wide with a depth of 0.3m, and a modern field drain. Investigation of site A026–448 revealed four pits, a small fire spot and a number of modern agricultural features. Finds were limited to Area I and ranged from a small barbed chert arrowhead to clay-pipe stems.
