During test-trenching in advance of the N7 Nenagh to Limerick high-quality dual carriageway road project three ‘possible pits’ were identified in Ballyard. Excavation between 13 and 18 September 2006 revealed that these features consisted of natural mineral deposits, some charcoal flecking and a tree bole, therefore the site has been classified as non-archaeological. No finds were recovered from this excavation.
Editor’s note: Although excavated during 2006, the report on this site arrived too late for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
