Archaeological investigations in advance of the N7 Nenagh to Limerick road project took place between 17 and 26 January 2007 at Annaholty. Excavations revealed a low mound of burnt-stone material. The mound measured 14.1m by 12.2m and had a height of 0.44m. Three small pits and two stake-holes were located under the north-western part of the mound. Two other pits were located under the north-eastern part of the mound. A larger subrectangular pit was located under the south-eastern part of the mound that may have served as a trough. It measured 2.5m by 1.74m and had a maximum depth of 0.8m.
Three pits and two burnt-stone spreads were identified north-east of the mound. A large modern field drain running north-east/south-west across the site also cut the mound. No finds were recovered from this excavation.
