Monitoring of works at Toberbride Business Park, Collooney, was conducted in September 2007. The monitoring was carried out in order to inform a possible later phase of development at the site. The site was a subrectangular field at the Toberbride roundabout at the site of the new section of the N4 Dublin–Sligo road outside Collooney. The groundworks consisted of the topsoil-stripping of a field adjacent to SL026–026. The field measured c. 200m north-east to south-west by 130m and sloped uphill to the north with boggy ground downslope to the south. Topsoil-stripping in the northern portion of the field located undisturbed natural subsoil consisting of light-brown sandy boulder clay 0.2–0.35m below present ground level. Immediately overlying the subsoil was topsoil consisting of friable mid-brown loam with few stones. Stripping in the southern portion of the site located undisturbed natural subsoil consisting of mid-grey silty clay 0.3–1m below present ground level. Immediately overlying the subsoil was dark-brown waterlogged peat. Nothing of archaeological significance was found.
