Archaeological investigations were undertaken in March 2007 in advance of proposed development of lands in Warren or Drum townland, Boyle, Co. Roscommon. The site was located some 1.5km east of the town of Boyle to the west of the new line of the N4 Sligo to Dublin road. The site was located on a greenfield area which sloped gently down to the north towards the course of the Boyle River. While there were no known archaeological sites within the development area, the close proximity of ecclesiastical remains (RO006–026) led to the imposition of an archaeological condition on the planning permission for the development. A total of five trenches were excavated across the confines of the site. The stratigraphic sequence of the site was characterised by topsoil up to 0.5m deep, immediately overlying undisturbed subsoil. Nothing of archaeological interest was found.
